Connecticut Unemployment Insurance and the Coronavirus (COVID-19)

If you have lost your job or not being assigned work hours due to the Coronavirus, then you should apply for Connecticut Unemployment Insurance Benefits. The Connecticut Department of Labor Unemployment Division will be making eligibility for unemployment benefits decisions on a case-by-case basis. This means that rules governing ineligibility will likely be relaxed or waived given these extraordinary circumstances. You can file a claim for unemployment benefits here.

You do no have to wait for your employer to send you documentation such as a pink slip or letter to file your claim. If your employer has sent you home for 14 days or more due to COVID-19, when you file the claim for unemployment benefits, you need to identify a probable return to work date. For example, if your employer has sent you home due to COVID-19 for 30 days effective March 15, then your probable return to work date would be April 14.
