Most Women Still Seeing Gender Bias in the Workplace

Recent polling conducted by the Wall Street Journal and NBC show that women in large numbers believe that gender bias continues to be pervasive in the workplace. 84% of the women polled stated that men are paid more than women for the same work. More than 4 out of 10 women reported experiencing gender discrimination in the workplace.

These opinions are backed up by government statistics. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, women who work full-time earn 79% of the weekly pay that men bring home. Women's median earnings lag men's in virtually every job occupation. Furthermore, since the year 2000, there has been no statistically meaningful improvement in the earnings gap between women and men.

Unfortunately, gender discrimination continues to be a large problem for women in the workplace - adversely impacting their income and advancement in the workplace. If you have been subjected to gender discrimination including unequal pay, call our employment attorneys today at 860-667-0839.
